This year we've experienced one of the most mild winters on record here in Austria. This means we've had only limited precipitation and daytime temperatures which often reached into the 40's. Long timers tell of days gone by with large snowfalls, even here in the valleys were the elevations are quite modest. As we are only "half" Austrian with the other have Californian, we've been delighted. This month we thought we would share a few images of the varying sky.... for heaven's sake.
We have a few church members who reside in the neighboring town of Trofiach. While returning home from a visit, we captured the next two images--the first of the clock tower downtown and the second of the fields just above the town and the alps in the distance. There's always something magical about the way sunlit clouds of yellow and orange contrast against the deep blue heavens.
On some days, heavy clouds descend into the mountain valleys. These clouds create a mystical backdrop to the stately trees on the lower mountain peaks.
Everyone knows how much Trudy enjoys teaching music. We have a wonderful member in our congregation who for many years desired to move forward with her ability to play the piano. Trudy suggested that the two of them get together every two weeks and spend 45 minutes on the piano at the church in Bruck an der Mur. This gave me the chance to take a nice little hike up to nearby castle ruins.
On our way home from church one Sunday we decided to take the road less traveled. As we climbed a little in elevation, the light took on a defining quality. Together with the pure blue skies, the high whisky clouds created a special moment.
As we support church members and others, we continue our aim of bringing the happiness of Christ's message to all. This is a dream we share as God's children, and each of us can contribute. Whenever we look heavenward and extend a hand outward, it truly is For Heaven's Sake and for the sake of all that we aim to bless.
